Archbishop Joseph Mercieca urged the implementation of proposals emerging from the Diocesan Synod to continue in the process for Church revival.
He said an Institute for Pastoral Formation is to be set up to provide training to Maltese Christians enabling them to strengthen their faith and to give their contribution to society.
He was concelebrating Mass at Naxxar parish church yesterday evening on the occasion of the Vigil of Pentecost.
The solemnity of Pentecost is a reminder of the occasion when the Church, in its beginning, received the gift of the Holy Spirit and reached out to preach the Gospel.
An Archbishop's Curia circular calls on Maltese faithful to unite, on the occasion of the Pentecost, to thank God for the continued renewal of the Church in Malta, through the Holy Spirit.
This year's theme is 'Together in a renewed Church through the Holy Spirit'.
In his message Mgr Mercieca spoke on the work carried out with the family, youths, the environment, culture, justice and peace and solidarity with those in need over the past two years following the holding of the Synod.
He said special emphasis was being placed on the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
Importance was also being given to the animation of the faith and to formation.
