Atlas Healthcare has just launched a new upgrade to their healthcare plans, which will allow consumers to buy insurance that will pay for preventive care tests such as dental checkups, eye tests, mammograms and smear tests.
"This is definitely an example of customer-driven product development," said Catherine Calleja, director of Atlas Healthcare Insurance Agency, the local agents for UK-based health insurer AXA PPP.
"We regularly ask our claimants for feedback on our products and services and make changes according to that feedback. Preventive care has been one of the covers consistently requested over the past couple of years and we are pleased to announce that together with AXA PPP in the UK we have developed this new preventive care upgrade option specifically for Maltese market requirements."
The preventive care optional upgrade provides insurance cover for dental checkups, routine eye testing, alternative therapies and prosthetic appliances.
The preventive care plus option includes all the preventive care cover plus routine cervical cancer screenings and, for clients aged over 45, routine mammograms, ultrasounds, prostate tests and periodic stress ECGs.
