Vittorio Laferla of Sliema is the lucky winner of The Times word game competition which ended on October 9.
Mr Laferla, an insurance underwriter, will be travelling to a choice destination from a selection offered by Mondial Travel of Valletta.
He also won a Lm50 voucher to spend at Malta International Airport and a one-year membership with the Malta Scrabble Club.
Mr Laferla usually travels round this time of year and this trip is being hailed as a welcome break both by himself and his wife.
Calm and soft-spoken, Mr Laferla is an avid collector of postcards, with a collection of 1,000 of them put together over a span of 30 years.
The word game, which appears every Saturday, requires readers to find a nine letter word from a jumble of nine letters once a week and then send the six nine-letter words every six weeks.
The six nine-letter words that had to be deciphered in the series won by Mr Laferla were rectitude, solitaire, megastore, taxidermy, naturally and secretary.
Mr Laferla, who has been a regular participant of the game, said he usually works on the word game together with his father.
The current word game series, which runs until November 20, will entitle the winner to a trip to London from December 29 to January 4, courtesy of Mondial Travel of Valletta, in addition to a Lm50 voucher to spend at MIA and a one-year membership of the Malta Scrabble Club.
