The Malta Communications Authority (MCA) has published a consultative paper aimed at seeking the views of industry players and other interested parties on the evolution of interconnection services in Malta within a fully liberalised environment.
MCA chairman Joseph Tabone said the prime objective of the paper, entitled Interconnection Strategy For The Telecommunications Sector In Malta, was to bring local interconnection rates more closely in line with EU benchmarks for both fixed and mobile telephony through various regulatory interventions and processes.
This consultation document provides an overview of the MCA's proposed short and medium to long-term strategy aimed at addressing the current level of interconnection charges. The consultation period runs until August 20.
Copies of the consultative document can be downloaded from the MCA's website at www.mca.org.mt or obtained free of charge from the MCA offices.
