Applications close on May 8
The police force has announced a recruitment drive, issuing a call for applications for new constables.
The call closes on May 8, giving prospective applicants just under a month to register their interest.
Constables are described on the police website as “first responders. They patrol neighbourhoods, respond to emergencies, investigate crime, gather evidence and support victims”.
Benefits of joining the police include a stable public service career, paid training, career and salary progression, varied duties and the honour of serving the country, the website says.
Police constables (PCs) reaching scale 14 on the public service career progression rankings are entitled to shift allowances, Sunday and public holiday working compensation, use of personal equipment and active duty allowances.
The police website says that allowances “significantly increase base pay” by typically more than 15 per cent per month.
