A report on the laws that would need to be amended to enable Maltese ratification of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has been sent to Malta's permanent representation in Brussels for approval, Family Minister Dolores Cristina has told Parliament.

Following Malta's signing of the convention and the Non-Obligatory Protocol in March 2007, the Office of the Prime Minister set up an inter-ministerial committee to study which laws would need to be amended. The report was finalised and presented to the Attorney General, among others.

The Attorney General sent his own proposals, which were accepted by the committee.
