Italk, operated by internet service provider Telemail Ltd, yesterday launched what it describes as a high-quality, low-cost international telephone call service.
Liberalisation of the telecommunications market on January 1 this year paved the way for ITSPs (internet telephony service providers) to offer low-cost rates for international telephony, a company spokesman said. He said Italk invested in state-of-the-art routing, billing and authentication equipment. It offers services suited to both individuals and business customers through prepaid and account-based options.
Prepaid accounts operate much the same as mobile phone prepaid services. Prepaid talk-time is purchased either as a physical card from selected retail outlets or as a virtual card, online, on the Italk website.
Corporate clients have the option of an account with monthly billing. Italk also provides customers with account information online under secure server technology. Customers may manage accounts, buy and top-up talk-time, pay bills and have call information online and updated in real time.
A limited liability Maltese company formed in 1994, Telemail Ltd is a provider of value added corporate internet services.
