British Airways will be flying the top three drivers in this year's IRMCC National Championships for 1/10th scale electric onroad touring cars to London. There, they will be competing in the 2003 International KO Grand Prix, once again at West London Racing Centre.
Malta champion Joshua Anastasi, championship runner-up Hayden Sciberras and third-placed Karl Fenech leave Malta on August 22. The three drivers will be accompanied by club president Joe Anastasi.
The group was presented with their tickets by James Stagno Navarra, Area General Manager for British Airways. It will be the second time that an IRMCC group will participate in KO Grand Prix.
Two years ago, Joshua Anastasi had claimed a creditable 15th place out of 150 competitors. On that occasion, world champion David Spashett won the event. Sciberras also placed well, winning the award for "best junior", an honour he will be aiming to win again this year.
Both will be racing in the Top Modified Class with Associated TC3 cars supplied by John Bull Racing.
Fenech has entered his TC3 in the newly-introduced 19-turn Super Stock class, which is also very competitive. Joe Anastasi will also be competing with his new Yokomo SD.
After the KO Grand Prix Joshua and Joe will move to the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk to take part in the fifth round of the BRCA National Touring Car Championship, before returning to Malta.
Commenting on the team's possibility of success, Anastasi said: "The KO Grand Prix has attracted a top class field this year. If we can make the "B Final" it will be an outstanding performance."
