A business delegation representing 31 municipal localities from the Rome region is in Malta for talks with Maltese and Gozitan businessmen.

The delegation was invited to Malta as part of an ongoing "strategic cooperation agreement" between the Comunita' Montana dell'Aniene and Gharb local council, the Gozo Business Chamber and the Gozo Tourism Association.

The delegates who represent the Lazio Municipal Region and private investors from the Lazio region were met at the VIP Lounge at the Malta International Airport by Anton Tabone, PN candidate for the European Parliament elections, and by Gharb mayor David Apap.

The aim of the "strategic partnership" is to promote the Lazio region and seek business opportunities overseas.

Addressing the delegation, Dr Tabone: "Although small in size, Gozo offers a mixture of investment opportunities for small- and medium-sized investors.

" I understand that the purpose of your visit is also to assist the Gozo business community set up legal structures on the same lines of your private public partnership concept.

" In this scenario, the role of an MEP would be to facilitate and tap into EU funding to develop such initiatives."

During their stay here, the Italian business delegation visit the Gozo Trade Fair were they had a gastronomical stand.

They will be meeting, Michael Frendo, Parliamentary Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Investment Promotion, Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs and a representative from the Labour Party.
