Forty pieces of contemporary Italian graphic art that form part of a huge art collection in the Italian city of Pavia are currently on display at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta.

The exhibition from the Sartirana Arte Foundation includes some of the biggest names of late 20th century art - Afro, Baj, Burri, Capogrossi, Consagra, Dorazio, Fontana, Guttuso, Melotti, Morlotti, Pomodoro, Santomaso, Scanavino and Vedova.

The various printing techniques employed include engraving, silkscreen and lithography.

Besides the impressive selection of artists' prints being shown in Malta, the Sartirana Arte Foundation is also widely known for its collections of Italian fine design.

The exhibition, presented by Heritage Malta and the Italian Cultural Institute, was inaugurated by Sartirana owner Giorgio Forni.

Italian Ambassador Alvise Memmo, Italian Cultural Institute director Rosanna Cravenna and Heritage Malta chief executive officer Antoinette Caruana were present.

The exhibition runs till May 15 at the Fine Arts Museum, Valletta, which is open daily between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. except on public holidays. Admission is free.
