Italy on Sunday shut down its discotheques and ordered the wearing of masks in nighttime public spaces as it faces an uptick in coronavirus cases.  

Health Minister Roberto Speranza signed a decree to take effect on Monday mandating mask-wearing from 6 pm to 6 am in public areas where "formation of groups" occurs.

The new decree also suspends outdoor discotheques and nightclubs from operating.
