The proposed IVF Bill was as complex as it was important and the outcome of the consultation process, as well as the impact of the Bill, would affect many people’s lives, Integra Foundation said.
It said in a statement that as such, the Bill demanded full and complete attention.
A genuine and meaningful consultation, it said, needed time for new information to be absorbed, researched, and reflected upon.
“Setting unrealistic deadlines in an effort to fast track the process suggests a lack of respect for the consultation process, and more importantly, a lack of respect towards those people who will be directly affected by the new Bill.
“We ask the government to extend the consultation period so that the issue might receive the attention and consideration it deserves,” the foundation said.
