A bus driver yesterday had a six-month jail term reduced by four months on appeal.

Joseph Zahra, 49, of Hal Far, was originally jailed for six months after the Magistrates' Court found him guilty of causing more than Lm50 damage to a government car in Floriana on November 26, 1999 and relapsing.

But Chief Justice Vincent DeGaetano reduced the jail term to two months after noting that the damage totalled Lm31, that is less than Lm50, and the police had failed to prove that Zahra was a relapser.
