A Sliema man was yesterday jailed for nine months, placed under probation for three years and fined Lm250 for trafficking in cannabis resin.
Simon Bonnet, 33, also pleaded guilty to the possession of cannabis and 75.108 grammes of its resin and to committing the crime in his Sliema residence situated within 100 metres of a school or youth centre on and before September 1999.
Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera noted that Bonnet had fully cooperated with the police and helped them in their investigations by revealing the name of the person he obtained the drugs from.
She also noted he had a troublesome and sad upbringing and that he did not have the appropriate supervision as a child.
The magistrate also took his guilty plea into consideration.
Police Inspectors Norbert Ciappara and Nicholas Ciappara prosecuted.
