The number of persons registering for work in September increased by 422 over the same month last year but dropped by 110 over the previous month, records held by the Employment and Training Corporation show.
The total number of persons registering for work in September stood at 7,942, the ETC said.
The number of people under 25 year who are registering for work increased by 187 this September when compared to the same month a year ago.
Among those registering for work in September were 3,800 persons whose duration of unemployment was under 20 weeks.
The ETC said the unemployment rates for September were not available since the data of the labour supply for this month has not yet been published.
The ETC said the unemployment rate last May stood at 5.1 per cent of the labour supply. This figure translates into 5.7 per cent for men and 3.4 per cent for women.
