The unemployment rate this July stood at 5.4 per cent, with 7,914 registered as unemployed, according to Employment and Training Corporation records.

The National Statistics Office, which issued the figures yesterday, said this was an increase of 676 over June 2003.

In July, the labour supply was 146,129, an increase of 1,133 in comparison with June 2003 and of 177 compared to July 2002.

The full-time gainfully occupied population reached 138,215, increasing by 457 persons in relation to June 2003 but going down by 560 compared with July last year.
