The registered unemployment at the Employment and Training Corporation amounted to 8,277 last November, giving an unemployment rate of 5.7 per cent, the National Statistics Office said yesterday.

In November 2002, it was 5.4 per cent and in October 2003 it was 5.7 per cent.

ETC records in November 2003 indicated a decrease of 476 persons in the labour supply over the preceding month.

Over a period of 12 months, from November 2002 to November 2003, the labour supply dropped by 764 persons. Accordingly, the labour supply amounted to 144,790 persons in November 2003.

In the month under review, the number of the full-time gainfully occupied persons decreased by 504 persons over the preceding month. In relation to the same month in the previous year, the number of the full-time gainfully occupied population dropped by 1,175 persons, to 136,513 persons in November 2003.
