The Labour Party's spokespersons for youth yesterday expressed preoccupation that a growing number of young people, especially Gozitans, were without jobs.

MPs Carmelo Abela and Justyne Caruana said that according to official statistics issued recently, unemployment among young people had increased with the biggest rise being registered among those aged between 20 and 24.

The spokesmen said the government was not keeping its pre-election promises of increasing employment opportunities and it was not addressing the unemployment problems of people under 30.

The most worrying factor was the government's apathy in every sector, the MPs said.
