Jobs increased by 4.8% in December

Administrative and support service activities were the biggest growth area

Full-time jobs increased by 4.8 per cent in December, while part-time employment as a primary job was up by 5.3 per cent when compared to December 2024, the NSO said on Tuesday.

Quoting data provided by Jobsplus, the statistics agency said that over a period of one year, the labour supply (excluding part-timers) grew by 4.8 per cent, reaching 305,462. This was mainly attributed to a year-on-year increase in full-time registered employment (13,923) and an increase in registered unemployment (121).

During December 2025, Administrative and support service activities and Information and communication contributed mostly to the increase in full-time employment, when compared to December 2024, amounting to 2,864 and 1,439, respectively.

Registered full-time employment in the private sector went up by 11,916 persons to 248,690. Public sector full-time employment increased by 2,007 persons to 55,536.

The number of persons registered as full-time self-employed rose by 888 when compared to December 2024, while the number of persons registered as employees increased by 13,035. Full-time employment for men and women went up by 4.7 per cent and 4.9 per cent respectively over 2024 levels.

Part-time employment

Registered part-time employment in December 2025 increased by 8.4 per cent when compared to the corresponding month in 2024. The sectors that contributed mostly to the overall increase were Transportation and storage followed by Accommodation and food service activities, amounting to 1,030 and 842, respectively.

The number of part-timers who also held a full-time job amounted to 49,602, up by 10.7 per cent when compared to the corresponding month in 2024. Employed persons whose part-time job was their primary occupation totalled 36,237 up by 5.3 per cent when compared to the same month in 2024.
