The Union Haddiema Maghqudin said it had registered an industrial dispute with the Association of Local Councils on the procedure to renew and terminate the employment contracts of council secretaries.

The union said the association was not accepting a suggestion proposed by the Director of Labour. The union has requested a meeting with Local Government Minister Austin Gatt. It warned it may have to order industrial action.
