The Labour Party today officially announced the appointment of MEP Joseph Cuschieri as head of the PL’s delegation in the European Parliament.

His appointment was approved by the party’s national executive yesterday.

Times of Malta reported last week that Mr Cuschieri was expected to take up the position vacated by Deputy Prime Minister Louis Grech, after it was declined by John Attard Montalto.

Mr Cuschieri, who gave up his seat in Parliament in 2008 for Dr Muscat after his election as PL leader, joined the EP in 2011 after Malta was awarded its sixth seat.

The party’s executive also confirmed Lydia Abela as secretary to the executive; Rachel Tua, as equal opportunities officer and Salvu Seychell as committees official coordinator.
