A Magistrates' Court judgement where a man was fined €465 after he pleaded guilty to storing fireworks in a building near Mellieha was declared null by the Criminal Appeals Court today.

The Appeals Court, presided by Mr Justice David Scicluna, found that despite the guilty plea by the accused Anthony Caruana, evidence should still have been heard.

It therefore upheld the appeal by the Attorney General, declaring the judgment null and sending the case back for re-hearing.
