World-famous cellist Julian Lloyd Webber will be playing in Malta next month at the Classical Connections Concert - part of the Malta Trade Fairs Corporation 50th anniversary.
Julian Lloyd Webber, brother of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, will be gracing the Marchese Scicluna Hall on February 12 at 7.30 p.m., in a joint recital with the Anstan trio.
Anstan are made up of pianist AnnMarie Chetcuti, violinist Stephen Galea and cellist Angelica Galea.
The concert will feature works by J.S. Bach, Frank Bridge, Astor Piazzolla, Antonio De Vita, L. Giordano, John Rutter, Karl Jenkins, Edward Elgar and Joseph Vella.
Also included will be the famous song, I don't know how to love him from Sir Andrew's musical Jesus Christ Superstar - specially arranged by Julian Lloyd Webber for solo and six other cellos.
During his stay in Malta, Julian Lloyd Webber, together with the Malta Trade Fairs Corporation will be launching the A Night with Lloyd Webber concert to be held in September at the Mediterranean Conference Centre.
Plans for this concert are already under way and will include Elgar's Cello Concerto and highlights from Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's musicals Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Phantom of the Opera.
And the National Orchestra, conducted by Mro Joseph Vella, will perform alongside Julian Lloyd Webber using the latest hi-tech lighting, lasers, large projections, pyrotechnics and special effects to haunt the MCC.
Noel Calleja, the Malta Trade Fairs Corporation sales and marketing manager, who had the idea for both concerts, will be the executive producer for all the 50th anniversary celebrations.
