The seventh Kata Championships this year attracted a field of 120 athletes from different organisations in Malta and Gozo.

The event was hosted by the Shotokan Karate School of Malta (SKSM), under the guidance of Sensei Chris Galea, at the Junior College, Msida. In all, 21 categories were contested. At the end of the tournament, Sensei Galea announced that an international seminar and Open Karate Championships will be held in Malta later this year.
