A well-drilled Kavallieri team ran out clear winners over an unfit Overseas 45-5. The first 20 minutes were tense with no score as Barracudas' defence and handling errors kept Kavallieri from scoring.

But once Daniel Grima started linking with the backs and straightening out the running angles, Kavallieri took the game away from their opponents whose backline tried hard but could not get into the game.

Two players were yellow carded - Grech Sant for rucking a player and not the ball and Newbold for a collar pull on a player when chasing a kick through. This all happened in a brief period in the last 30 minutes of the game.

Grima scored three tries and Mike Scholey, who was playing scrumhalf, scored twice. Richard Beerman also hit a try but could manage only one conversion (out of eight) and a penalty. Other tries were scored by Cory Ben and Ian Borda. Newbold, on his return from sin bin, scored a try in the dying moments of the game to get Barracudas on the scoresheet.

Man of the match would have to be Grima for his support play, rewarded by three tries. Phil Gibbs made a return after 10 months on the sidelines. Robert Bonavia came on for S. Bartolo, Benji Caruana replaced Grech Sant for Kavallieri.

Rob Gauci was replaced by Chris Cachia with Brian Dalton moving into scrumhalf. James Bason came on for Phil Gibbs for Barracudas.

Other result: Alligators vs Stompers 5-55.
