A 32-year-old woman of Kenyan origin was yesterday charged with importing 65 capsules containing heroin into Malta on Monday.

Winnie Wanjiku Kanmaz, who resides in Turkey, was also charged with the possession of the drug in circumstances denoting it was not for her personal use and conspiring to deal in the drug between September and November this year.

Kanmaz, who was assisted by legal aid Richard Sladden, pleaded not guilty to all charges.

She was remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Norbert Ciappara prosecuted.
