Kinnie, Cisk Export sponsor AEGEE-Valletta summer University activities

AEGEE-Valletta, the local antenna of AEGEE-Europe, is organising various activities for the European students they are hosting in Malta for this year's AEGEE-Valletta Summer University 2002.

AEGEE is one of Europe's largest interdisciplinary student associations, which promotes a unified Europe, cross-border co-operation, communication, integration among students and strives to create an open and tolerant society of tomorrow. In recent years, AEGEE has mainly dealt with topics of higher education, peace and stability, cultural exchange and active citizenship.

AEGEE is represented in 271 university cities in 40 European countries and has over 17,000 members. What makes AEGEE truly European is that it does not use a national level approach but relies solely on local groups, called antennae, in university cities all over Europe.

AEGEE has consultative status at the Council of Europe and the UN. AEGEE is also a member of the European Youth Forum and has co-operated with UNESCO on international projects.

Following the success of previous years, the AEGEE-Valletta committee has planned a full two-week programme in Malta. The Summer University started on Monday with a welcome party, sponsored by Cisk Export and Kinnie, at Surfside in Sliema.

Apart from partying in the evenings, the foreign youths have the opportunity to explore the historical and cultural heritage of Malta and Gozo. They will attend lectures on the Maltese language, the impact of religion and politics, cooking and folklore.
