KM Malta Airlines adds flights for voters as 1,000 book in two days

The PN and Momentum appealed for more flights on Tuesday

KM Malta Airlines has announced extra flights and increased capacity following what it described as 'exceptionally strong demand' by voters to travel to Malta for the general election.

It said that in the first two days of bookings for election travel, it booked over 1,000 return passengers. Approximately 90% originated from Brussels and London.

The additional flights will operate as follows:

  • London Gatwick: 20th, 21st, 22nd, 24th, 31st May;
  • Brussels: 21, 22 and 25th May.

These flights will provide increased capacity for voters intending to travel to Malta for early voting on 23rd May, as well as for those planning to return shortly afterwards.

Seats remain available across a range of other dates for passengers wishing to participate in early voting on 23rd May, or vote on Election Day, 30th May, and return to their place of residence thereafter, the airline said.

The special election fares are available across all scheduled routes operated by KM Malta Airlines, offering eligible voters flexibility to travel from across the airline’s European network.

The PN on Tuesday also urged the Electoral Commission to make arrangements for seats for voters to also be made available on other airlines.
