'Is KM Malta airlines hiding losses' - Momentum questions accounts absence

Party calls on government to publish national airline's audited accounts 'immediately'

Momentum has questioned whether KM Malta Airlines was "hiding its losses" as it called on the government to ensure the company publishes its audited accounts “immediately”.

In a statement on Thursday, Momentum’s treasurer Carmel Asciak questioned whether the national airline was “illegally hiding its losses” after failing to present its audited accounts since it was founded on October 2, 2023.

“Has KM Malta Airlines been flouting the law because it wants to keep its losses hidden?” Asciak said.

He also asked why Finance Minister Clyde Caruana was “keeping his mouth shut on all this”?

“The Maltese people are entitled to know the situation of their national airline. The accounts must be published immediately,” he added.

This followed a similar statement from the Nationalist Party on Wednesday which urged the government to provide a full and transparent account of the national airline’s financial position.
