Knock-out final

Rebecca D'Agostino notched four goals to propel her team to an 8-1 annihilation of Raiders in the final of the knock-out competition yesterday.

Seizing their opportunity to shine in front of the gathering fans ahead of the FA Trophy semi-final at the National Stadium, the Stripes had the game effectively sewn up by the end of the first half after moving into a strong 5-0 lead.

Nora Agliano hit the first goal after 11 minutes before D'Agostino struck three times in the space of nine minutes to put Birkirkara 4-0 ahead.

Catherine Camilleri made it 5-0 in first-half stoppage time.

Despite their cushion lead, Birkirkara maintained a firm grip on the game after the change of ends, netting three more goals through Agliano, Chantalle Fenech and D'Agostino.

Claudia Borg gained Raiders' consolation goal four minutes from time.

After the match, MFA vice-president John Farrugia presented the cup to Debbie Pisani, captain of Birkirkara.
