The 2002/03 Malta Handball Association season will come to a close today when the finals of the men's and ladies' KO competitions are played at the University Sports Complex.

In the final for ladies, first-time league champions Wild Angels Vitality, who beat Kavallieri in the semi-finals, will be aiming to top a fine season with another trophy to add to the Super Cup and league successes.

On paper, they must be considered as favourites even though their opponents, Aloysians Veneziani Croissant, who ousted University in the previous round, may turn out to be a tough nut to crack

Undoubtedly, it will be very interesting to see the tactical plans that both coaches will adopt. Whereas Vitality's John Falzon may venture for an open game, Aloysians' Milos Stanislejevic may adopt for a defensive approach with some fast and effective counterbreaks.

In the men's contest Aloysians ProMinent will be aiming to win the quadruple crown when they meet University, who have made it to the final following a surprise, but merited, victory over La Salle Nespak.

Aloysians must show better ideas than they did in their semi-final against Kavallieri when the latter were so close to creating a major upset.

Lately, University seem to be gaining ground following their rather dismal performances during the league campaign.

Today, the team has nothing to lose as being in the final is already an achievement for them. However, given their latest performances, this match should turn out to be a real classic.
