Seven trotting events on the 2,140m distance and a Flat Class A race on 2,250 metres made up the card of yesterday's programme at the Marsa Racetrack.
Frenċu Cassar and Noel Baldacchino finished the afternoon as joint-best drivers with two wins each.
The Premier race was exciting from start to finish as five trotters dashed closely together towards the finish line.
Kosai L.J., driven by Cassar, was first past the post to register its second win on the trot.
Newcomer Kirk De Cossio came in second ahead of Race Ball.
In yesterday's only Gold race, Just Bourbon, under the reins of that experienced driver Cassar, surged ahead 100 metres from the post and went on to obtain a merited win.
Ksar and Jaguar De France placed second and third respectively.
First place in the first Silver race went to Pistona, controlled by Rodney Gatt. This winner managed to overtake four other trotters in the final metres.
In the second Silver event, Gozitan driver Julian Farrugia put Speedy Gold R.P. in the lead 200 metres from the post on its way to completing a three-length win.
Six horses took part in the only flat race yesterday as two other runners, including top favourite Just The Best, pulled out.
The race developed into a close duel between Ulgen and newcomer Monashee Prince along the final straight. Demis Zammit's Ulgen just managed to pip Monashee Prince to victory with Docklands Brian entering third.
The next meeting will be held on Friday, starting at 6 p.m.
