L’Isle Adam musical society to perform in anniversary concert
The society acquired its premises in Rabat 75 years ago
The Għaqda Mużikali L’Isle Adam is commemorating the 75th anniversary of the acquisition of Palazzo Xara, the society’s historic headquarters in Rabat, with a concert tomorrow, June 9, at 8pm.
Palazzo Xara became the property of the L’Isle Adam musical society on June 9, 1951. Since then, the palace has served as a cultural and musical home for generations of members and supporters.
Tomorrow’s concert will feature the participation of the Banda Dekana u Ċittadina l-Isle Adam under the direction of band director William Debattista.
The programme will include a selection of ceremonial works chosen specifically for the occasion. Highlights include the premiere performance of 75 Sena Darna Palazz, a new composition by Debattista written for the anniversary celebrations.
Other featured works include the Marcia Trionfale from Verdi’s Aida, Chariots of Fire, Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1, and an excerpt from Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition: Great Gate of Kiev.
Attendees will also be invited to view a specially produced audiovisual documentary recounting the history and significance of Palazzo Xara’s acquisition and its enduring role in the life of the society.
The concert, which will be held in front of the palazzo, will further include the participation of the Kamra tan-Nar 19 ta’ Marzu of Rabat.
The event is being held under the patronage of President Myriam Spiteri Debono and is supported by Arts Council Malta.
