Labour councillors were there to give a service to localities and citizens and this would be confirmed during the party's congress later this month, MLP leader Alfred Sant said yesterday.
The councillors were committed to improving their work, he said, adding that they did more work than their Nationalist counterparts since they delivered what they promised. These councillors were focused on what needed to be done.
Speaking during a meeting for the party's councillors, Dr Sant said the congress would be one of the MLP's most important appointments this year.
It would discuss how the Labour councillors' success could be consolidated and strengthened. It would also analyse how the MLP could strengthen its work through working with voluntary organisations.
"Labour councillors are there to work with everybody," he said.
Dr Sant said that through the party's councillors the MLP also wanted to keep in touch with residents.
