The main purpose of the meeting was for both entities to exchange their views on the employment needs of locally based industry and how to address the supply to meet these demands.

During the meeting, the possibility of a working group involving all stakeholders was discussed, whereby this committee would focus on the long-term need of catering for labour market mismatches as well as short-term training needs of business operators.

Among the other areas discussed during the meeting were initiatives related to business-education links involving the FOI participation, foresight methods that could be used to study the needs of business operators, as well as the importance of vocational training.

Mr Kenely was accompanied at the meeting by FOI HR and Social Policy Working Group chairman Stephen C. Debono, administration manager John B. Scicluna, and executives Cecilia Vella and Dr Ingrid Buhagiar.
