MŻPN mocks Robert Abela for cancelling youth-focused event

The April 14 event was cancelled in the last minute without explanation

A cancelled Labour Party youth event that was due to feature Robert Abela has drawn taunts from the Nationalist Party's youth wing.

Żgħażagħ Laburisti heavily promoted the event 'Pitch It To The Prime Minister' as an opportunity for young people to present their ideas directly to Abela, who leads Labour and the government.

The event was scheduled to take place at Valletta's Spazju Kreattiv last Tuesday and was advertised across social media, including posts, videos, and even a programme on the party's radio station, One Radio.

Yet the event was cancelled just one hour before it was due to begin. No explanation was given for the cancellation.

PN youth wing MŻPN Malta reacted by publishing a video mocking the cancellation. The short clip shows an email being sent to the Prime Minister along with an attachment representing the PN's ideas for youths.

"I'm disappointed that you couldn't make time to meet with us youths," the mock email reads. "Guess youths are not that important for Robert Abela after all."

Replying to the jibe on Friday, Żgħażagħ Laburisti said the event will be rescheduled and a new date will be announced soon.

"Leading a country comes with its responsibility... and unfortunately, it sometimes calls for rescheduling," the post read.

"Although we're sorry our event had to be postponed, we look forward to giving you a new date for you to come and pitch your ideas."
