In reply to Carmelo Abela's letter (April 18), may I point out that: a) Labour got less votes than in 2003; b) Labour did not manage to convince the electorate to vote for it and that is why there was such a low turnout and an unprecedented number of invalid votes; c) Labour has no specific policy with regard to many problems such as the water and electricity rates, pension reform, creation of new jobs and investment, to mention just a few.
It must be galling for Labour that for the fourth time, it has not won the electorate's trust even though they were only local council elections.
