Ten students attending lace-making courses at the University of Malta Gozo Centre will be joining hundreds of international lace-makers in Nottingham, UK, tomorrow for the congress of the Organisation International de Dentelle à Feuseau et à l'Aiguille (OIDEA) pre-congress courses and a post-congress cultural lace tour.

The students are being supported by the Leonardo Da Vinci programme of the European Union Programmes Unit (EUPU).

OIDEA is the organisation of bobbin and needle lace, to which several Maltese lace-makers subscribe and form part of its representative council. A congress is held biannually in a different lace-making country where lace exhibitions and technique demonstrations of all participating countries are held.

The students, led by course co-ordinator Consiglia Azzopardi, will undertake courses in traditional English lace.
