Following the successful launch of the Faculty of Education online journal, Journal of Maltese Education Research, edited by Dr Carmel Borg, the Publications Committee of the Faculty has announced another new initiative - the launch of a Monograph Series in Education entitled Trends.
Trends aims to provide a focal point for the publication of Maltese research on various educational issues with particular emphasis on the principles, objectives and areas outlined in the National Minimum Curriculum.
Trends is dedicated to theory development, empirical research, policy formulation, and quality improvement in education generally and teacher education, staff development, and teaching in particular. It offers a means of communication and dissemination of local educational research, while providing a forum for debate between researchers and educationalists.
The publication policy of Trends is based on the philosophy of the Faculty of Education, which is that of supporting educators in promoting quality teaching, learning, and research.
The first monograph written by the editors addresses the promotion of environmental education in schools that is in line with mainstream developments in education in Europe. It was well reviewed abroad by leading European environmental educators.
Colleagues interested in sharing their academic outputs and research findings in education with other educationists and researchers are encouraged to submit their manuscripts for consideration.
For further details, prospective contributors may contact the series' editors, Dr Christopher Bezzina at christopher.bezzina@um.edu.mt or Dr Paul Pace at paul.j.pace @um.edu.mt
