San Gwann confirmed their good form as they demolished Luqa with Mark Psaila scoring a hat-trick. The Saints are now sole leaders with maximum points from two matches.

Pierre Bonnici had surprisingly put Luqa ahead early on but San Gwann replied strongly scoring three times before the break. The other scorers for the winners were Renato Caruana (2) and Clint Gatt.

The two sets of defences in this match completely dominated proceedings even though it was Zurrieq who finished the happier at the end of the day. The Reds had to play for most of the second half with nine players.

Jonathan Zammit (56th) was sent off for a professional foul and 12 minutes from time Dino Bonnici followed suit for dissent.

Dingli Swallows 1

This was a merited victory for Zebbug with Dingli Swallows suffering their first upset of the season. Referee Saviour Tanti was always in control, awarding three penalties during the match.

Gordon Mallia (12th, 72nd penalties), Stephen Cassar (69th) and Mark Ciantar (90th) scored for the Rangers. A Jesmond Zammit penalty (40th) put the teams level temporarily in the opening half.

St Andrews 5

After their defeat against Vittoriosa, St Andrews managed to recover some lost pride when completely outclassing Gzira who slipped to their second defeat in a row.

Alex Busuttil (2nd), David Busuttil (10th, 63rd), Jonathan Mifsud (57th o.g.) and Mark Tabone (85th) scored for the winners. Liam Vidal (65th penalty) hit Gzira's consolation goal. Stephen Falzon (SA) was red-carded in the 49th minute. Gzira defender Malcolm Sultana was also dismissed with 13 minutes to go.

This was an easy match for Siggiewi who made sure of the points in the first period during which they scored their three goals.

Eman Ciappara (14th), Marlon Vella (38th) and Massimo Borg (42nd) were on target for Siggiewi.

St George's opened their league commitments with a sound victory over Sirens with two of their goals coming after blunders from goalkeeper Adrian Lia.

The scorers for St George's were Lawrence Mizzi (15th), Johan Spiteri (41st) and Christian Grech (74th).

A goal scored during the first period through Jesmond Azzopardi was enough for Zejtun as they opened their league commitments with a hard-earned victory over Kirkop.

An early Alex Muscat goal proved to be the winner for Sta Lucija as they collected three points from their opening match of the season.

Muscat found the Sta Venera net after 12 minutes play.
