Leadership changes at UĦM as long-serving director resigns
Mario Sacco served at the union for 26 years
A director at the UĦM Voice of the Workers union has resigned after 26 years in the organisation, the union announced Tuesday.
Mario Sacco, who held the post of director since 2021, formerly served as secretary of the union’s government workers section.
“During his years of service, Mr Sacco made a consistent contribution in the field of trade unionism, working to improve working conditions”, the union said.
Kenneth Abela, assistant director and manager for the port and transport section, has been appointed acting director in his stead, while assistant director and manager for education and social solidarity, Isabelle Farrugia, has been appointed deputy chief executive officer.
The union said the changes in roles were “part of a process aimed at continuity and strengthening its structure”, and that the appointments would “continue to strengthen the organisation’s work and reflect its vision to keep moving forward”.
UĦM wished Sacco success in his future endeavours and Farrugia and Abela success in their new roles.
