Spanish PM Sánchez congratulates Abela on six years as PM

The president of Socialist International has written to Robert Abela on his sixth anniversary as prime minister of Malta. 

Pedro Sánchez, who is also Spain's prime minister, said Abela's leadership over these years was marked by a strong commitment to social justice, democratic values, and inclusive economic progress.

"Under your guidance, Malta has continued to play an active and constructive role both within Europe and in the broader international community, upholding the principles that unite the global family of social democrats, socialists, and progressives," Sánchez said.

"Your dedication to strengthening social cohesion, protecting workers’ rights, and advancing sustainable development reflects the core values we share within the Socialist International. In challenging times, your leadership has demonstrated responsibility, resilience, and a clear vision for the future."

The PL published the letter on Wednesday afternoon.
