Leading researcher Pierre Schembri-Wismayer joins Momentum
The science educator will be contesting the upcoming general election
Professor Pierre Schembri-Wismayer will be contesting the election under the Momentum ticket, the party said on Wednesday.
Schembri-Wismayer teaches Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Malta and is a leading science educator and researcher.
It is still not yet known which districts he will be contesting.
“We are honoured that Prof Schembri-Wismayer has opted to join our team of highly motivated, talented and honest candidates and committee members in the forthcoming electoral campaign," Arnold Cassola said on Wednesday morning.
"His academic prowess, experience and high ethical standards add further lustre and prestige to the history of our young political party”.
Among others, Schembri-Wismayer is the lead inventor of the Malta Hip, and formed part of a University of Malta research team that conducted a breakthrough research which could see the future of adult stem cell production carried out faster and cheaper.
