Left, right and illegal migration

I refer to what was written about me by Lorna Vassallo in her article Was Left Right, Or What? I feel I should make some clarifications both with regard to myself and also on AveMelita.com.

First of all Norman Lowell was never AveMelita.com's leader either in a formal or informal manner. I speak in the capacity of AveMelita.com's founder and administrator.

Secondly, with regard to the term "racially-based discrimination" allow me to declare that what I am contrary to is uncontrolled immigration, in particular of an illegal and massive nature. My opposition stems from the fact that I believe that the Maltese have a national right to determine who shall form part of society on these small densely-populated islands.

My opposition to immigration also emanates from a desire to have a Maltese Malta where laws are upheld with solemn respect and in the national interest. It does not stem from racially-based discrimination. Indeed, I would still protest even if the invasion involved Sicilians, who I consider to be a race just like ours.

Alfred Sant is now allegedly speaking of the national interest (on this matter). Whether he will manage to persuade people is another question. But perhaps Dr Vassallo would like to accuse Dr Sant of racially-based discrimination!

With relation to leftists, perhaps Dr Vassallo should get to know me better because many of my personal friends and acquaintances are in fact leftists and/or Labourites. Not only that, most people sharing my views nowadays come from a leftist/Labourite family background though they identify themselves politically with ideologically nationalist and rightist ideals.

In relation to declared leftists or those having such views, as non-political persons they enjoy my utmost respect but when it comes to politics I will challenge them whenever I feel it is appropriate but I will always insist on respect, a civilised discussion and the truth.

I shall not hide the fact that, politically, I am anti-leftist. However, I reject any accusation that I am against private individuals who happen to harbour leftist political ideas. I make a clear distinction between a person and his political ideas both in my daily life and in the way I relate to people.

Regarding the incident Dr Vassallo refers to, I believe I gave my reply to that incident on a leftist daily itself. Perhaps she should check for herself.

Regarding judging leftists and who gave me the authority to do so, I wonder who gave Dr Vassallo the authority to judge me and write such inaccuracies both about me personally and also about AveMelita.com.

In conclusion, I would like to declare that my internet nickname is "Ederico Figallo" and I am the site administrator of AveMelita.com.
