Evolving through experience, the Subaru Legacy won the support of many customers for its comfortable ride, outstanding packaging, world class safety performance and superb functionality. The Legacy has been designed to be 'Unique and Emotional' to satisfy those who love cars and love the feel of driving performance.
Stunning, distinctive and stylish with a sharp front-end design and the hawk-eye motif of the headlights create a fearless sense of individuality with an interior ambience to match, Subaru makes no apology for targeting prestigious European sporting marques with the confident new styling and welcoming soft-touch interior of its new Legacy and Outback.
The Legacy is comprised of the Sports Tourer (Wagon), along with the four-door Sedan. Both are available with a choice of three 'Boxer' engine configurations, the 3.0R, 2.5i and 2.0i.
The 2.0i and the 2.5i's four-cylinder engines are tuned to emphasise response throughout the range of everyday driving with impressive fuel efficiency (the Legacy 2.0i manual sedan records 7.7 litres/100 km in the combined cycle).
While the range topping, ultra-smooth 245 bhp 'flat-six' boxer 3.0R version has been developed as a high-performance driver's car with a top speed of 243 km/h and an impressive 0-100 km/h time of 6.5 seconds (Spec. B sedan).
The Outback is based on the dual-purpose 'Crossover' SUW concept (Sports Utility Wagon, a new breed created and pioneered by Subaru), which refines a luxurious wagon with the ideal of an intelligent SUV's off-roading go anywhere ability. The higher-riding Outback crossover is available with the new 3.0R or the 2.5i engines
No Subaru would be complete without its rally-honed proprietary powertrain Symmetrical All-wheel Drive. It is the foundation of the new Legacy's superior balance from front to rear and side to side, which feeds full-time power to all four wheels.
Its responsiveness to the driver's command not only increases the pleasure of driving, but also increases the ability to avoid accidents.
Subarus have always enjoyed an excellent reputation for active safety thanks to this symmetrical AWD system and low-centre-of-gravity 'boxer' engines. Now these models are once again proving their worth in some of the most demanding crash tests in the world.
The 2005 model year Subaru Outback has won a top rating in the latest American NCAP crash test - the only vehicle to do so. Not only did the all-wheel drive crossover score five-stars for driver and passenger in the front impact test, but attracted another five stars for driver and passenger for side impacts.
This is the second major safety award for the Outback and its Legacy sedan and Sports Tourer relatives. Last year, the models were given a five-star crashworthiness rating by the Australian New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP).
The new Legacy was also voted Japanese Car of the Year for 2004, despite fierce competition from European models, such as the BMW 5 Series and Jaguar XJ.
All models - including the entry-level Legacy 2.0i - boast: AWD with ABS and EBD, climate control air-conditioning, alloy wheels, radio/CD players, front and side airbags, four electric windows and remote central-locking with a security immobiliser system.
Other highlights include full leather seats and door trim for Legacy 2.5i SE, plus heated front seats, door mirrors and windscreen de-icer, curtain airbags, electric sunroofs, cruise control and an eight-way electrically-operated driver's seat.
For a limited period Subaru are offering special discounts on all the Legacy range, starting from Lm10,990 for the 2.0i sedan The Outback range begins at Lm15,990 for the 2.5i model. For more information call Liaco Limited at Mosta Road, Lija (tel: 2141-8111) or visit www.subaru.com.mt.
