Legal action is to be taken against two catering establishments for failing to follow COVID-19 rules, the Ministry of Tourism said on Monday.

It said 300 inspections were made over the weekend and two establishments were found to be breaking the rules.

Bars, nightclubs and social clubs [każini] were ordered to stay shut until at least December 1 last week. Snack bars and kiosks can stay open, provided they do not sell alcohol and are closed between 11pm and 5am.

Times of Malta reported last week that just 15 per cent of catering establishments are licenced as restaurants, with many licenced as snack bars and therefore prohibited from selling alcohol.
