Lenten processions in Fontana

Via Crucis with statue of the Flagellation of Christ will begin at 6pm

Fontana parish will hold its first Lenten procession on Friday. The via crucis with the statue of the Flagellation of Christ by sculptor Michael Cutajar Zahra, created in April 2019, will begin at 6pm from Trejqet Grezzja Grima.

The second procession, in pageant form, will be held on the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows on Friday, March 27. Three Passion statues will be carried in the procession, accompanied by around 100 biblical characters and penitents bearing chains. The pageant will start at 6pm.

On Wednesday, April 1, a penitential pilgrimage will be held with the statue of Christ carrying the cross from Ta’ Pompeii Sanctuary in Victoria to the Sacred Heart sanctuary in Fontana. Mass will be celebrated prior to the pilgrimage at 6pm.
