MCAST recently signed four agreements with the Leonardo da Vinci National Agency, within the EUPU, Ministry of Education, totalling €18,509. These agreements will allow 16 students and five members of staff to visit another European country where they can learn more about their field of work.

Three members of staff from the Institute of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will visit Sussex Downs College. They will spend a week updating themselves about the latest developments in the teaching and delivery of ICT study programmes.

A group of 12 students from the Institute of Building and Construction Engineering will spend three weeks in Recklinghausen, Germany. The students, all in their third year of the MCAST course in Draughtsmanship, will improve and enlarge their respective knowledge under a common European perspective by studying different ways and methods of working.

Two staff members from the same institute will accompany the students and they will also be following a working programme. A reciprocal visit by this project's German partner is being planned for next year.

Four Electrical and Electronics Engineering students will be visiting Lyon, France, where they will spend four weeks working in the electronics industry.

This project is a reciprocal project to a group of four French students from the Lycée Professionnel Jules Verne. MCAST Malta hosted them for a month while they worked in our electronics industries.

These projects are being funded partly by the Leonardo da Vinci EU programme, partly by MCAST and partly by the beneficiaries themselves.

This co-funding principle, advocated by the Leonardo programme, encourage institutions and beneficiaries to invest in training and self-development.

MCAST staff and students have already participated in and hosted other Leonardo da Vinci projects. MCAST aims at increasing the international dimension of the programme of studies it offers through the participation in various EU programmes, including Leonardo da Vinci, socrates, and the Youth Programme.
