LESA, Transport Malta issue warnings about scams, fake messages

Car owners urged to ignore messages, not click on links

LESA and Transport Malta issued warnings on Tuesday about scams and fake messages, both related to transport.

LESA, the local enforcement agency, warned motorists about fake traffic fine messages which are being used to steal personal or financial information.

Those who receive them on their phone were urged not to click on the link provided, not reply and not share personal or banking details.

Transport Malta said that messages currently circulating regarding traffic fines are a scam.

"The public is urged to disregard the message and avoid opening any links. The matter is being followed up with the relevant authorities," the agency said.
