Let’s build our future, together

Malta needs a national vision. But more than that, the Nationalist Party needs to first be the architect of that vision once again

There comes a moment in every nation’s journey when it must stop, reflect, and ask: where are we going? Not just tomorrow. Not even next year. But in a generation’s time. What kind of country will our children inherit? And what kind of leadership will it take to get us there?

Today, Malta stands at such a crossroads. We are blessed with opportunity but burdened by division. We are rich in potential, but too often poor in purpose. That is why I believe Malta needs a national vision; bold, shared, and clear. One that gives every citizen, every region, every generation a reason to believe in something greater than themselves.

The government’s Vision 2050 was an important step in the right direction. It invites us to “think boldly” and to look ahead “with purpose, clarity and ambition.” I welcome this effort, and I respect its intention to transcend electoral cycles. But a vision, if it is to be more than a document, must become a shared mission; owned not only by those in power, but by the people it is meant to serve.

This is where the Nationalist Party must rise again. Because if there is one party that has consistently shaped Malta’s most transformative chapters, it is ours.

We led Malta into the modern economy. We secured EU membership when few believed it was possible. We reimagined the country’s place in the world.

But somewhere along the way, after that historic achievement, our capacity to imagine the next future dimmed. The momentum we had was not sustained. The sense of national mission was lost.

Now, as the world changes around us; geopolitically, economically, socially; it is time for the Nationalist Party to reclaim its role: the party that designs and builds Malta’s future.

The Nationalist Party has always been at its best when it was bold; when it led, not followed

As someone who proudly represents Gozo and its resilient people, I have seen first-hand what happens when communities are left behind. But I’ve also seen what happens when vision meets courage. That’s the spirit I want to bring to the PN; and, one day, to the country.

Because a real national vision must go beyond slogans. It must start with people’s daily lives and work backwards from the future we want to create.

I believe in a Malta where:

• Every young person has the chance to thrive, not just survive.

• Infrastructure is built to last generations, not political terms.

• Education prepares us for life, not just exams.

• Sustainability is our strength, not our sacrifice.

• Governance is rooted in merit, not favour.

Vision 2050 speaks of a Malta that is “resilient, dynamic, and full of opportunity.” I believe that too. But let’s be honest: we are not there yet. Traffic clogs our roads.

Wages struggle to keep up with the cost of living. Our environment is under pressure. Our youth feel unheard. These are not talking points. They are real pain points.

The Nationalist Party has always been at its best when it was bold; when it led, not followed. Today, boldness does not mean louder slogans. It means long-term thinking. It means putting country before party. It means offering serious, visionary leadership for a new era.

My generation cannot wait another 25 years for promises to materialise. We are ready to build. We are ready to lead. And we are ready to unite behind a shared ambition that lifts everyone, not just the few.

So yes, Malta needs a national vision. But more than that, the Nationalist Party needs to first be the architect of that vision once again.

This is the leadership I offer. Not perfect, but honest. Not loud, but clear. Not for me; but for Malta.

Let’s rebuild the future. Let’s rebuild the vision. Let’s rebuild the Nationalist Party, as the movement that shapes the Malta we all deserve.
